A Wichita State University student was arrested on Saturday on a rape charge, the second alleged sexual assault case on the campus in about a month.

A spokesman for the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office told Fox News Digital that James Vandenberg was taken into custody at a university dorm hall by campus police. Vandenberg was released from jail on Sunday after posting a $100,000 surety bond, the spokesman said.

Details about what led to the charge were not available. According to the spokesman, Wichita State University campus police are investigating.

The arrest follows another one earlier in the month. On Oct. 12, 18-year-old Aaron Christian was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and rape. He was released the next day after securing a $100,000 surety bond. The university's police department is also handling that investigation.

After Christian's arrest, a university spokesperson addressed the case in a statement. "The university takes all reports of sexual assault seriously. Sexual violence has no place in any campus community, and we are committed to following all applicable laws, reporting, investigative and student-support processes," the spokesperson said.

Campus police records show that, before the two October cases, the most recent reported sexual assault allegation was on Feb. 28 at The Flats, an apartment complex on campus.

The records also list a sexual battery allegation made on Feb. 18 at Shocker Studios, the campus building that houses the school of digital arts. A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with that incident, according to the records.

Fox News Digital reached out to Wichita State University, Vandenberg and Christian for comment.
